Letter From the Principal

[Back to the Talon]

Welcome back everyone!

Normally, my letter to Parents in the September Talon is a general greeting and explanation of some of the bigger things about life at Frontier. While you’ll still find that below, I feel compelled to start this off with an apology.

I want to apologize to each and every family who has, or may even still be having, difficulty with the start of school due to scheduling problems. This has been, quite honestly, one of the most challenging starts I’ve ever experienced at Frontier. There are many reasons for this, and most of these have been outside of our control. I can assure you we’ve been working overtime to fix things, and will continue to do so.
We’re taking a few specific steps this week to fix some of our remaining issues. Among these are fixing apparent mix ups in Math placement and balancing out overcrowded classes with undercrowded (if that’s a word) classes. If you or your child believe they were placed in the wrong class, please make sure to fill out a form from the counselors’ office explaining the issue. We are STILL working through sheets that have been submitted in the opening days of school, so please be patient with our counselors.
Now comes the normal stuff!

Many parents believe that when their children reach junior high age, it’s time to pull back and let them establish some independence. While this is true in some ways (ever notice the twenty foot buffer zone at the mall?), in other areas it is critical for parents to stay involved in their children’s education. There are two important ways you can do this at Frontier: the student planner, and Family Access. See articles about the planner and Family access within this newsletter.
