Strategies for Multiple Choice Questions

Strategies for Essay Questions

Be sure you are well rested before the test.

Exercise will help reduce tension and stimulate thinking.

Eat nutritious food before taking the test.

Bring a healthy snack (No sugar-based or messy items)

Be prepared with school supplies. (Sharpened #2 pencils)

Allow yourself enough time to get to class without feeling rushed.

Develop a positive attitude. Tell yourself that you can do this and believe in yourself.

Read directions carefully. Ask questions if you don't understand or need clarification.

Scan the test and answer the questions you know first. This is a great confidence builder.

Do Not Panic! If you cannot think of an answer don't let it throw you off for the rest of the test. Go on to another question, this just might trigger your memory for the missed answer.

Take a few deep breathes to relax your muscles. Repeat throughout the test. This process will help you stay relaxed and make more energy avvailable for thinking and writing.

Keep your eye on the clock. Make sure you'll have time to complete the test.
